Executive Insights is an in-conversation content series featuring thought leaders from across the Irish business community. Hosted by Business & Finance, in association with KPMG, the series explores business strategy and how to navigate the current climate.

This episode features Paul Rellis, CEO of Viatel, in conversation with David O’Kelly, Partner, KPMG. Rellis was named Business Person of the Month this April.

David O’Kelly, Partner at KPMG spoke with Paul Rellis, CEO of Viatel, about the company’s plans to grow their revenue from €100 million to €500 million and the importance of cybersecurity in today’s tech landscape. Rellis highlighted the importance of fostering a strong team culture and navigating the challenges of transitioning from a large corporation to a more agile business model. “It’s a great, great place to be. And a lot of hard work by people and a lot of fun along the way. And we want to go to the next level. Our ambition and our vision is to create a tech services platform and be the digital services platform for business in Ireland.”

Rellis and O’Kelly discussed the company’s acquisition of MJ Flood Technology, boosting Viatel’s ability to offer cybersecurity. They also talked about balancing approaches to both the Irish and foreign markets. Rellis noted: “This is our heartland. This is where we all live. We’re part of the community. We’re part of life here. We think we can do something really good here, and we would like to do something in other markets.”
