2024: The year for digital leaders to supercharge sustainable business transformation

The Business & Finance CIO 100 Index 2023, in association with Equinix, was launched on the 31st May 2023, recognising the top 100 Digital Leaders working across some of the most innovative companies in Ireland today.

On 28th November, digital leaders will gather for a private virtual roundtable to discuss sustainability and the barriers to engendering a safe environment.

With many businesses and nations committed to significantly reducing their carbon footprints by 2030 (in line with the 55% reduction target set) and achieving net zero by 2040, time is running out.

Those who comply with their obligations which are written into law under the European Climate Law, may benefit greatly from access to green financing. Those who don’t will face sanctions.

With only one technology refresh cycle realistically feasible before 2030, the decisions IT leaders make now will be crucial to their organisation’s sustainable success.

Digital leaders must act now in spite of obstacles that may present. Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, economic turbulence and fast-paced digital transformation projects, some technology leaders are coming into conflict with their organisation’s sustainability goals. Impending regulations and legislation mean that everything from network strategy to third-party partner selection could impact sustainability goals; the challenge facing IT leaders now is delivering both digital transformation and sustainability objectives simultaneously.

The private virtual roundtable we will take a deeper look at:

  • Organising your business priorities: What do you need to deliver, and where does sustainability sit on the list?
  • How to deal with the challenges that come with infrastructure modernisation in delivering sustainable transformations
  • The impact of AI on your sustainability strategy
  • Preparing for the inevitable – How to best prepare for sustainability practices and obligatory reporting legislation

This virtual roundtable is designed to provide CIO 100 leaders with a private forum to share and learn from each other. Chatham House Rules apply.

Joan Mulvihill, Digitalisation & Sustainability Lead at Siemens, and Michael Winterson, Managing Director of Equinix Services, will speak at the event.

Attending CIOs are invited to bring an Executive guest from their Sustainability office (CSO), Business Transformation (e.g. CDO/ Business Transformation Lead) or Finance (CFO) teams – a key stakeholder you work closely with as owners of your organisation’s sustainability targets. The group will include a maximum of 15 guests in order to provide the opportunity for everyone to network and participate.
